10 Common Myths About PCOS (April 26, 2019)

In this episode Dr Stefanski breaks down some common myths about polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). These myths include: 

  1. PCOS is a rare condition

  2. You must have ovarian cysts to be diagnosed with PCOS

  3. If you're having regular periods that means you are ovulating regularly

  4. Only women who are overweight or have diabetes type II get PCOS

  5. PCOS is genetic and you have no control over it

  6. PCOS is not dangerous

  7. You can't get pregnant if you have PCOS

  8. The only way to treat PCOS is with pharmaceutical medications like birth control pills

  9. Diet/exercise/lifestyle changes are nice but they don't make a big difference

  10. You can't actually heal PCOS
